Taquelia Washington

Director of strategy & impact

she/her

Is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a Certified Professional Coach with over 20 years of experience centering racial equity in the fields of mental health and organizational consulting.

Taquelia brings all of herself, including her identity as a queer Black woman to her work as a teacher, coach and facilitator. As co-founder of Radicle Root Collective, Taquelia currently serves as the Director of Strategy and Impact. She is passionate about supporting leaders and organizations in their transformational journeys. She strives to create healing spaces where people can feel empowered to tap into their fullness of self as they navigate their mission driven work.

When she is not working, Taquelia loves to spend time with her family, eat yummy food, and commune with nature. She is located in the Detroit Metro area and travels back to the San Francisco Bay area regularly for work.

Emily Artalejo Frailey

project & systems manager

she/her

Is a multiracial Latina dialogue facilitator with an academic background in peacebuilding. Emily earned her MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington, D.C. 

Emily strives to create spaces where people can be their most authentic selves. She is especially passionate about uplifting the experiences of fellow biracial and multiracial people– supporting them to embrace their wholeness and letting go of the idea of not being “enough.”

Emily currently serves as the Project and Systems Manager at Radicle Root Collective and is responsible for designing and managing RRC’s internal systems.

Emily is also an aerialist who enjoys literally and metaphorically going upside down to gain new perspectives. In her free time, Emily loves to dance and spend time with her loved ones near the ocean.

Jo Brownson

director of learning & resources

she/her

Is a white and queer activist, enthusiastic women’s sports fan, loyal friend, partner, sister, daughter and parent to two magical little beings.

Jo is also a racial justice healer, facilitator, leadership coach and systems thinker who is currently serving as the Director of Learning and Resources at Radicle Root Collective. She has worked in the field of education and equity-based organizational development for over 15 years. She is passionate about supporting individual leaders and organizations to more deeply understand how white supremacy intersects and reinforces other systems of oppression and harm, how it shapes our everyday actions and most importantly, how to take action to mitigate and transform its impacts.

Jo is rooted in Oakland, her forever home, on the unceded land of the Lisjan Ohlone peoples.
