Capacity Building for Co-Leaders
What is Co-Leadership?
We define co-leadership as a structure in which two or more people share power, influence, and responsibility in an organization, company, collective, or project, rather than a single leader. It is not a new structure, particularly among social movements in the United States and is practiced in various cultures and communities around the world. It is not a common structure for organizations here in the United States.
Why capacity building for co-leaders?
Because co-leadership is an uncommon structure in the US, there doesn’t exist a lot of support for organizations who choose this model in the form of research, resources, consulting and coaching. As a co-directorship ourselves with expertise on values aligned organizational transformation, RRC is uniquely positioned to provide this support to co-leaders and the organizations surrounding them.
What can it look like?
We tailor our consultation packages around the unique challenge you are facing in your co-leadership. These packages are designed around either a technical or a relational goal that we support you to identify during the exploratory meetings. An example of a common technical goal for co-leaders might be: Defining shared accountability, flow of work, and complementary areas of responsibility. An example of a relational goal for co-leaders might be: Strengthening closeness and boundaries in our co-leadership relationship.
What is the time Commitment for this service?
